Byron Middle School Makes AYP again!!

Byron Middle School, a "School of Excellence," makes AYP again!!  Just released results by the Georgia Department of Education can be viewed at the following site, http://www.gadoe.org/ayp2011.aspx.  Thanks   to all of the faculty, staff, parents, students, and volunteers for helping achieve this accomplishment!

 

Students Advance to All State Chorus!

Ms. Dent, Byron Middle School choral director, is proud to announce that 5 students have been selected to represent Byron Middle School at All State Chorus in Savannah, GA in February. The students had to go through two auditions, competing with many other students over the state of Georgia and they have finally earned their spot! The 2nd audition took place this past Friday and their scores were outstanding!! Odessa Taylor, 96.1%, Eboni Steele, 96.05%, Preston Price and Lucas Gray, 92.67% and Hunter Johnson, 89.47%! The students have worked hard and it has really payed off!! GO EAGLES!!!
 
You may attend the final concert on Saturday, February 25th in the Savannah Civic Center at 3pm.

FBLA Participates in Region 5 Leadership Conference

On Monday, January 23, 2012, the Region 5 FBLA Conference was held at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. More than 800 students, which included high school and middle school students, from Region 5 attended. The conference included leadership workshops, competitions, a March of Dimes service project, lunch, and an Awards Ceremony.

Along with the leadership development workshops, Byron Middle FBLA had two students to earn awards: James Griggers - 1st Place, Personal Financial Concepts and 2nd Place, Business Computations; Britt Davis - 1st Place, Business Concepts.

The mission of FBLA is “to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.”
